Did you know that today, April 22nd, 2020, is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day? Here is my favourite song about Planet Earth, "The Garden Song," which was written by David Mallett in 1975, and performed by artists such as John Denver, Pete Seeger, Fred Penner, Raffi, Arlo Guthrie, and Charlotte Diamond. The cold air and rain made my guitar quickly go out of tune for this performance in the rain! The poem at the end is called "Worm," which is written by Dennis Lee. What songs and poems about Planet Earth do YOU like!? - Mr. Poynter

Music Monday is a day to celebrate music in the schools. This year, it will be celebrated on Monday, May 4th, 2020. In the past, we have gathered with students from around the district to sing songs together at the Q Centre. With the current reality of school, we are hoping families will celebrate Music Monday at home. The Coalition for Music Education in Canada is bringing Music Monday online, and you can check it out here: coalitioncanada.ca/musicmonday/en/home-2020-online
Dear Sangster Family, Here is my first attempt at an online music class... ha! The video is 15 minutes long, and is geared towards our primary students. I made sure that most of the content was super familiar for this one, so that everyone can just jump right in and sing along. Enjoy, and have a super sunny weekend! Oh, and if there's something you want to see or hear in my next video, let me know in the comments or via email :) - Mr. Poynter In this short week before Easter, please take a few minutes to explore the website, familiarize yourself with the different sections, and pick one activity from the Resources page to try out. There are so many cool things on there already, and not all of them require much else other than just to dive in and play!
